If you are purchasing a property in Hertfordshire always ensure that you have a building survey carried out on it. A building survey, prepared by one of our building surveyors could literally save you thousands of pounds. The survey only needs to uncover one potential problem with the property and the cost of the building survey is more than recovered. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Independent Surveyors and Valuers Association.
We take great pride in the quality of our building surveys and produce a very detailed building survey report, whether it is a residential property or a commercial property.
We use plain English in our building surveys to explain any problems with the property to ensure that you not only understand the issues but also advise how to resolve them together with anticipated cost. We also use sketches which have been commissioned exclusively for us to explain in more detail a particular problem, for example this sketch shows typical areas where asbestos can be found. |

Hertfordshire is broken down into several areas: the Three Rivers area, Watford area, Hertsmere, Welwyn and Hatfield, Broxbourne, East Hertfordshire, Stevenage, North Hertfordshire, St Albans and Decorum, which is Hemel Hempstead area. To the East is Essex and to the South is London , to the West is Buckinghamshire and then Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire are to the North. Parts of the area have the chalk from the Chiltern Downs and other parts have the clay (brick making in Bovingdon) from London and relatively speaking it is an agricultural area particularly bearing in mind its closeness to London .
Major towns are Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, famous for the Romans, Welwyn Garden, famous for Garden City Planning and Stevenage, the first UK New Town (although not so new anymore). Hertfordshire has many beautiful villages such as Hoddesdon, Berkhamsted and Tring and market towns such as Bishops Stortford and larger towns that are constantly under new development such as Hemel Hempstead and Watford (very good for retail therapy). The M1 road system flows through it as does the M25 and M11 and the original roads such as the A1, Great Northern Road to Yorkshire and the A5, Watling Street to North Wales . The Grand Union Canal passes through Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted. If you want to leave the country altogether then Stansted and Luton airport are not that far away although not actually in Hertfordshire. The London Underground stretches as far as Watford.
As Surveyors we have surveyed many properties in the villages within the county such as:
We have also carried out surveys in many villages, including: Ashwell, Aston, Bovingdon, Braughing, just off the A10 on the B1368, Brent Pelham, Brickendon Liberty, Brookmans Park, with its golf club and lawn tennis club a picturesque part of the county to survey in, Caldecote, Chipperfield, Colney Heath, Croxley Green, Flamstead, with its many Listed buildings we have had the pleasure to survey, Furneux Pelham, Hunsdon, Knebworth, Little Berkhamsted, Puckeridge, in the east of the county, Redbourn, Rushden, Sandridge, Stanstead Abbotts, Stocking Pelham just off the B1038 and Welham Green which is just off the A1 not far from the M25 another commuter village we have often carried out surveys in.
