Cannizaro Parks History

Cannizaro Park was formed upon what was a large swamp and was opened to the public in 1949.

The name Cannizaro originates from Sicily. Count St Antonio succeeded to the Dukedom of Cannizzaro (originally spelt with two z's) in Sicily in 1832. He was the leaseholder of what was then Warren House, built in the early 1700's which was on the west side of Wimbledon Common.
