Moor Park Mansion
Moor Park shares its name with the Stuart / Jacobean Mansion built in 1678 / 1679 for The Duke of Monmouth. The property is a Grade I Listed Building and is located near Rickmansworth town centre. It was at this large house that war plans for Operation Market Garden were made during World War II resulting in the Battle of Arnhem.
Inside the property you can view the Venetian decorations and important paintings and artefacts.
Three Rivers Museum
The Three Rivers Museum has displays documenting the archaeological and historic background of the area exhibits about William Penn and Moor Park Mansion. There are photographs from past and present and many articles given by local people.
The Aquadrome, Rickmansworth
The Rickmansworth Aquadrome consists of three lakes, Batchworth, Stockers and Bury lakes, which were created by the extraction of gravel which was actually used in the building of the first Wembley stadium. There are also parkland and wooded areas and is a good place for nice walks. Stockers Lake has a bird and wildlife sanctuary.
Croxley Common Moor Local Nature Reserve
Croxley Common Moor is a local nature reserve which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. There are in excess of 130 different types of plants and many ant hills created by yellow meadow ants on the Moor.
The Withey Beds
The Withey Beds is one of the few remaining wetlands in Hertfordshire. This Local Nature Reserve supports many habitats and wildlife is encouraged to flourish here in the wet woodland, grass and marshes.
Prestwick Road Meadows, South Oxhey
This Local Nature Reserve is left over from an old farm meadow in South Oxhey and is one of the few meadows still remaining which has been unspoilt. The ancient hedgerows that divided the fields are still in evidence. There is also a seaasonal pond here which is visited by wildlife.
Oxhey Woods
Oxhey Woods Local Nature Reserve is an ancient semi-natural woodland with a number of areas dating back to the last ice age. The woods are considered to be one of the most important woudlands in the county and contain a range of habitats. Beautiful wild flowers flourish here.
Chorleywood House Estate
Chorleywood House Estate Grounds are set within the Chilterns and are an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are lots of walks to undertake and formal parkland to explore along with open meadows and woodland which leads down to the River Chess. The woodlands are made up of ancient woodlands and secondary woodlands and there are protected species living here.
Also in the area there are interesting buildings to look at such as the Summerhouse, the Well House, Old Chapel and Drill Hall.
Royal National Rose Garden, St Albans
The Rose Gardens are set in over five acres of land and have around 2,000 different varieties of rose on display. There is a central pergola which is around 200m in length and various ponds. There is also a turf maze, designed by Adrian Fisher, in the shape of a stylised Tudor rose, which is great fun for visiting children.
The Chess Valley Walk
The Chess Valley Walk runs from Rickmansworth to Chesham and is approximately 10 miles long, although shorter sections can be walked than this.
The Alder Nature Trail
The Alder Nature Trail is one mile in length - so not too taxing!
The Ebury Way
The Ebury Way is suitable for bike riders, horse riders (although the horse riders route is restricted) and people on foot; it crosses the Colne, Chess and Gade rivers and the Grand Union Canal.

Bricket Wood is an are of Special Scientific Interest and is a large wooded common. The common has a remnant lowland heath and ancient oak / hornbeam woodland.
