Leaving the M2 and joining the A299 heading towards Ramsgate on the coast then taking the A255 is the delightful Kent seaside town of Broadstairs with its attractive cliff top walks and rows of quaint fisherman's cottages. Broadstairs has been and continues to be enjoyed by many visitors and residents and is noted for the early 19 th century Bleak House which today is a luxury hotel but in the past was the summer home of Charles Dickens who enjoyed staying in this attractive part of Kent overlooking the North Foreland and Viking Bay. The town has many interesting buildings including Grade II Listed Pierremont Hall in the High Street where Princess Victoria who later became Queen Victoria stayed, the flint built water tower with the Crampton Tower Museum now housed within this building and the quaint cottage Thomas Crampton, who was a famous Victorian engineer who was the first to lay an effective telegraph cable beneath the English Channel, was born in - Prospect Cottage in what is now called Dickens Walk. In the distance you can see the North Foreland Lighthouse built to warn sailors of the Goodwin Sands which extend far into the sea and was the last of the manned lighthouses in the UK to transfer to automatic action in 1998.
North Foreland Golf Club is north of Broadstairs, it was founded in 1903 and has a brilliant 18 hole course which is located by the Kent coast, providing a beautiful atmosphere.
Broadstairs is a town we are often asked to conduct structural building surveys in on properties in and around the area and note that there are some larger palatial houses in roads such as Cliff Road, Crescent Road, Easter Esplanade and Stone Road for example.
If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing in Broadstairs or the surrounding area then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Building Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.
All our survey contain lots of images, clearly showing any problems that we have identified at the property such as woodworm, rising damp or cracking to the walls. We also use sketches in our survey which are aimed at helping you to understand how certain areas are constructed or to help show more clearly a problem that we have identified. You will also find lots of definitions of any building terminology that we may use in our survey, as we firmly believe in 'Plain English' and really want you to fully understand what we are saying in the survey report.
