Sir Hubert von Herkomer, a Victorian artist, lived in Bushey towards the end of the 1800s. Herkomer's film studios in Bushey High Street have been renovated but they are the oldest remaining glass house film studios in Europe .
Lucy Kemp-Welch, world famous artist who painted horses, lived in a house called Kingsley in the High Street and ran an art school in Bushey. Margurerite Frobisher, artist, inherited Kingsley.
The architect, Nicholas Hawksmoor, a student of Sir Christopher Wren, designed many of London 's neo classical churches and is buried outside Shenley. The Hawksmoor Leisure Centre is named after the architect.

The Church of St James
The Church of St James stands on a site which is said to have had a church there since the year 1006; however this cannot be corroborated as no part of the present church dates to this time. The oldest part of the current church dates to about 1250 and it is the chancel. The nave hammer beam roof is a very good example of a14 th century roof and there is also a Jacobean pulpet.
Aldenham Country Park
In 1971 Aldenham Country Park , which is set on 175 acres of green belt land, was created as place for quiet countryside recreation. The area is made up of parkland, woodland and open water. The woodland has many lovely wild flowers in the spring and summer and the area has much wildlife including insects and birds along with waterfowl on the lake. There are areas for family picnics and there is a children's playground. You can also visit Winnie-the-Pooh's '100 Aker Wood'.
Rare livestock have been bred at the park for many years which include cattle, pigs, sheep and goats.
Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre, Harrow
The Harrow Museum and Heritage Centre in Harrow is made up of a number of buildings and land. It is a medieval estate called Headstone Manor which has a manor house with a moat around it, timber barns and farmland. The estate can be traced back 825 AD through the manor's records. There are buildings to see dating from medieval times. The buildings are Listed now.
The Manor House used to be the home of Archbishop Cranmer and the oldest parts can be dated from the 1300s. It is now a Grade I listed building. There is also the Granary to see; this is a Grade II Listed building which was restored and used to be based at Pinner Park Farm and was reconstructed at the Museum. the Tithe Barn is also Grade II Listed and was built in 1506 and eventually restored in the 1970s it has a fantastic timber framed structure which can be seen in all its glory internally. The Small Barn was built in the 16 th and 17 th centuries and is Grade II Listed. The Moat is the only moat filled with water in Middlesex.
The Museum exhibits items about the local history of the area and there is a shop and café based at the museum.
Bushey Grove Leisure Centre
Bushey Grove Leisure Centre has a 25m pool and also a 16m teaching pool. There is also a sports hall, astroturf pitch, tennis courts and squash courts along with a health club with fitness studio, dance studio and health suite. There is a café and crèche too.
The Lincolnsfields Centre, Bushey
The Lincolnsfields Centre is a farmyard centre where children can see and touch a selection of animals such as goats, rabbits, owls, chickens, hawks, pheasants, sheep and pigs. Also, children can use the outside play areas.
Royal Air Force Museum, London
The Royal Air Force Museum is among the best flight exhibitions in the world. There are displays set out in five hangers showing the history of aviation from balloons up to present day. Exhibits to see include Vulcans, Lancaster, Eurofighter, Sunderland Flying Boat, a Phantom, experience the Battle of Britain, fly with the Red Arrows in a simulator and see Spitfires and a Hurricane close up.
