We carry out residential structural surveys and commercial surveys in Ealing which has been a settlement for many years with the parish church of St Marys dating back to at least the early twelfth century.

Ealing derives its name from ‘Gillingas' which means the people of Gilla, who could have been an Anglo-Saxon settler. Over the years the name of the area has changed; it has been called Yealing, Zelling and Eling, until Ealing became the standard spelling of the name in the nineteenth century.

In the 18 th century Ealing was mostly made up of open countryside and fields and farming was the main occupation. However, there was an important road running from west (Oxford) to east (London) through the centre of the parish which later became known as the Uxbridge Road. The route had many stopping places for the travelers and the ones in Ealing were The Feathers, The Bell, The Green Man and The Old Hats (incidentally, we carry out commercial surveys on public houses, as well as on residential properties).

In the 1830s the building of the Great Western Railway took place and this ran through the centre of Ealing, which in 1838 resulted in the opening of a railway station on Ealing Broadway. Ealing became a town in the Victorian era which lead to more growth (an example of a Victorian house is available in our downloadable surveys section of the website).

'Independent Chartered Surveyors' means that we work for you, not an Estate Agent or a Mortgage company.

At 1st Associated our surveyors use a system called the 'Pro Survey Database'. This is a database of property problems built up over many years from knolwledge of many decades or surveying. This system gives the Chartered Surveyors carrying out independent building surveys a vast selection of reference materials from which to draw and this enables them to give the best informed advice in our surveys for any problems that we have found at the property we are surveying. See www.prosurveys.co.uk for more information.
