The Derbyshire town of Heanor is at the junction of the A608 and A6007 with Codnor Park to the north, Shipley Country Park to the south and the villages of Denby Common to the north east and Eastwood to the east. The M1 is close by with junction 26 connecting with the A610 which will bring you into the town from the east and junction 27 then the A608 from the north. Shipley Country Park is in Slack Lane and is a delightful place to relax and enjoy the lakes, woodlands and meadows in this picture postcard Peak District area. Years ago coal mining was predominant in Heanor whereas today the pits have all closed down and the land re-landscaped providing open space for locals and tourists to enjoy.
