The Order of the Holy Trinity built a priory at the western end of the High Street in 1211, where the present church now stands. The friars from The Order used a third of their tithes during the crusades to pay for the release of captured hostages.
The Holy Trinity was granted a charter to hold a weekly market and an annual fair by Edward I
In 1539 the priory was dissolved during the Dissolution of the Monasteries, despite Henry VIII having joined The Order when he was the Prince of Wales.
A tournament was held at Hounslow in 1215 when the Barons and King John signed the Magna Carta.
During the 17th and 18th centuries highway men and footpads (those that did not have horses) used to roam Hounslow Heath and rob travellers on the road to and from London. The heath was so well known for these activities that gallows were errected along the roadside as a warning.
