Kempston first appears in the Domesday Book as “Camestone”.
Saxon remains in a Saxon Cemetery suggest that Kempston was a thriving community before the town of Bedford emerged.
The most significant find on the Saxon site was a perfectly preserved glass drinking horn which is now displated in the London British Museum.
Modern day Kempston has a wide range of housing available, with a variety of shops both large and small and a recently developed Interchange Park close by.
