The East Derbyshire village of Killamarsh is situated close to the M1 in between junction 30 and junction 31 with Rother Valley , Meadowgate and Nethermoor Lakes to the north of the village and the village of Spinkhill to the south. Rother Valley Country Park is a delightful place to unwind with fishing, water-skiing and boating on the lakes and watching or taking part in football, horse riding, running etc in what was once a coal site. Like many of the Derbyshire towns and villages the parish church of St Giles is a focal point with the building dating back to the 12 th century and has beautiful Norman chevron carving to the archway of the south doorway. The church houses a stunning stained glass window of Madonna and Child which is thought to date back to the 15 th century and is a splendid example of medieval stained glass.
