We carry out residential structural survey and commercial survey in Margate. Margate is a town which is situated in Kent.
Margate is located near the A299 and A28 and just off the B2051 and A254, it is surrounded by the villages of Cliftonville to the east, Westwood to the south and Westgate-on-Sea to the west.
The town is well known for Dreamland the amusement park which dates back to 1921 with a Scenic Railway at its heart which was later in 2008 damaged by fire. The roller coasters and rides have been very popular over the years with the Dreamland Trust formed to restore and regenerate the park for future generations to enjoy.
Margate has some amazing places to see such as the Shell Grotto in Grotto Hill which is several underground rooms and passageways first discovered back in 1835. The Grotto is covered with millions of shells but why it was created is uncertain although there have been many theories over the years from being an ancient temple to secret sect meeting place to a rich man's folly or even a smuggler's cave. Today it is owned and maintained by English Heritage and is Grade I listed with many visitors enjoying the Grotto as it is opened to the public.
A landmark in the town is Draper's Mill in St Peter's Footpath off College Road which is a black smock windmill and was built in 1845 by John Holman. Another is the Tudor House in King Street which is the town's oldest domestic building with charming herb gardens and is an extraordinary example of 16th century Tudor architecture.
As Surveyors we are frequently in the town and note some larger detached residences in the High Street, Barnes Avenue and Royal Esplanade for example.
If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing in Margate or the surrounding area then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Building Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.
All our survey contain lots of images, clearly showing any problems that we have identified at the property such as woodworm, rising damp or cracking to the walls. We also use sketches in our survey which are aimed at helping you to understand how certain areas are constructed or to help show more clearly a problem that we have identified. You will also find lots of definitions of any building terminology that we may use in our survey, as we firmly believe in 'Plain English' and really want you to fully understand what we are saying in the survey report.
