Interesting Facts About Ruislip and the Ruislip Area

Ruislip or Rislepe as it was recorded in the 1086 Domesday Book is thought to mean “leaping place on the river where rushes grow” and is situated North West of London. It is thought to be the place where the river Pinn could be crossed. Ruislip is less than half an hour from the M25 motorway and is located just off the A4180. The areas of Harrow, Hayes and Rickmansworth are all close by. Although Ruislip is only ten miles from central London driving times are difficult to calculate. It can take anything from half an hour on a good day to an hour or more on a particularly bad day.

Ruislip Lido is a large 60 acre lake with its sandy beach and narrow gauge railway. It is still rated as one of the top London attractions and is an ideal beauty spot we often like to visit in between surveying properties in the area. It is also known for being used as the site for filming the famous Cliff Richard film “Summer Holiday”.

A 700 acre woodland and nature reserve surrounds Ruislip Lido. History indicates that timber from the reserve was used in the building of Windsor Castle . Today however, the woods offer the visitor peaceful escapism from their busy lives with the opportunity for long relaxing walks and horse riding.

We were extremely fortunate to be able to visit the local Ruislip farmers market recently whilst in the area carrying out residential surveys. The market will tantalise your taste buds offering the discerning visitor a selection of produce grown, reared or made by local producers. The market usually runs the first Sunday of every month, so if you are in the area it is definitely worth a visit.

If you are travelling to Ruislip by tube you will be pleased to know that it is served by three different tube lines which is something you will not find anywhere else on London's underground system.

We carry out residential structural surveys in Ruislip. Sherwood Avenue is undoubtedly one of the more popular roads in the area.

Residential & Commercial Building Surveyors

Residential Building Surveyor

Our Residential Building Surveys are tailor made to suit your requirements. When you book your survey we will ask you to grade your building survey knowledge from 1 - 4, with 1 being 'next to no building survey knowledge' and 4 being 'excellent building survey knowledge'. From this we can tailor make your building survey. Depending upon your knowledge level we will add additional photographs to the building survey or will give you more definitions of building terminology, or add extra sketches to help describe particular areas of concern or to show you for example what type of roof your proposed property has or what type of brickwork the property is built in. By doing this we can make sure that you completely understand the property you are buying and that you understand what the issues are.

Commercial Building Surveyor

Our Commercial Building Surveys are also tailored to suit your property requirements. When you book your survey we will ask you to grade your commercial property knowledge from 1 - 4, with 1 being 'next to no commercial property knowledge' and 4 being 'excellent commercial property knowledge'. From this we can tailor make your building survey. So depending on how much knowledge you have of Commercial building surveying and typical problems arising from commercial building surveying our building surveyors can adjust their building survey report accordingly and include more photos and detail descriptions of the issue and your best course of action to fix them.
