West of Wellingborough on the A45 then A5001 Wellingborough Rd you find the east Northamptonshire town of Rushden surrounded by the villages of Caldecott, Newton Bromswold, Wymington, Knuston and to the north the town of Higham Ferrers . The town's most famous for being the place where the author H.E. Bates was born in Grove Rd and has a road name after him H.E. Bates Way where the Pemberton Leisure and Conference Centre stands.
