Stewartby is in the heart of Bedfordshire's brick country between Bedford and Bletchley and was previously called Wootton Pillinge but the name was changed to name the town after the Stewart family. Stewartby was started in 1926 and grew out of a dream of both Sir Halley Stewart and his son Sir Malcolm Stewart to create a model village which was originally built for the workers in of The London Brick Company. It is laid out on the lines of a 'Garden City' with a village hall, shopping centre and social club.
Close by, Stewartby Lake Country Park offers facilities for a variety of water sports and recreation and the Marston Vale Millennium Park is a lovely place to visit for walks and cycling.
