We carry out residential structural surveys and commercial surveys in Tring. Tring is located about 30 miles from London and the train journey to central London takes about an hour. The town is located to the west edge of Hertfordshire. Looking on a map you will see that Tring sticks out from the rest of the towns in Hertfordshire and the area is known as the Tring Salient. Tring is not far from Aylesbury, which is a town in Buckinghamshire and is also pretty near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire.
The town is set in the middle of beautiful countryside at the summit of the Grand Union Canal . It is also on the edge of the Chilterns, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To the east of Tring is the Ashridge Estate with wonderful woodland to explore, to the south is Tring Park and further woodland and to the south west are Wendover Woods.
About one mile north of Tring are the Tring Reservoirs National Reserve, which is home to many water birds, including the great crested grebe and heron.
Tring is mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. The town grew considerably when the Grand Junction Canal (now the Grand Union Canal ) started to be built in the late 18 th century and this brought trade to the town. The coming of the railway in 1835 saw further development of the town as London was now only an hour away.
In 1872 Lionel Rothschild bought Tring Park and gave it to his son Nathaniel. The Rothschild's influence on Tring was immense. New homes were built and a water supply was created for the town.
Nathaniel Rothschild's heir was Lionel Walter Rothschild and he had a fascination for the natural world and collected many items and began a museum which was later opened to the public in 1892. Lionel also collected exotic animals which roamed the park, such as kangaroos, cassowaries, giant tortoises and zebra. He also kept the glis-glis, which is an edible dormouse, in the Park which have now become established in the area.
Lionel Rothschild gave the Museum to the nation before he died and The Mansion was sold to become an Arts School .
After World War II more industry came to the area and Tring grew into a larger town with new housing estates and the infrastructure that goes along with this being built over the years.
Today, Tring is mainly residential with a busy town centre with retail shops and small businesses. The Charter Market is held weekly on a Friday and a Farmers' Market is held every other Saturday along with Tring Market Auctions. The town has an industrial estate and there are also small business units in the town.
Tring is considered to be a pleasing place to live and work and there are plenty of places in the area to visit.
If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Chartered Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.
At 1st Associated our surveyors use a system called the 'Pro Survey Database'. This is a database of property problems built up over many years from knowledge of many decades or surveying. This system gives the Chartered Surveyors carrying out independent building surveys a vast selection of reference materials from which to draw and this enables them to give the best informed advice in our surveys for any problems that we have found at the property we are surveying. See www.prosurveys.co.uk for more information.
