Norfolk is a low-lying county in the East of England bordering Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire to the west and Suffolk to the south. Its northern and eastern boundaries are the North Sea coast and The Wash. One of the largest counties in Britain, it is renowned for its flatness, large skies and some of the most beautiful countryside in England. Holidaying in Norfolk is just about slowing down. Some complain about the pace of life in Norfolk but we think it is going at just the right speed!
Almost a selling feature of Norfolk is that there aren't any motorways. The A12 coastal road is a pleasant road for driving into Norfolk from Suffolk following the coastline into the Great Yarmouth area.
Trains from London reach Norwich or Kings Lynn in under two hours and there are interconnecting train networks throughout the rest of Norfolk .
We hope the above information is useful and has enticed you to visit Norfolk.
Property Types
It is always a pleasure to carry out building surveys in the Norfolk area, particularly whilst we are surveying the older properties with thatch and pargetting render over a timber frame or perhaps the cob wall or napped flint that Norfolk is famous for. There is also the brown sandstone known as Carrstone which is found over in Hunstanton and all the way down to Kings Lynn. There are of course many traditional styles of property from different eras such as the Victorian. The Victorians used transported bricks for the walls and slates for the roofs with the more prestigious buildings constructed in stone or rendered in the fashion of the day in stucco. Commonly seen in a lot of the eastern and coastal areas are pantiles. These were transported over from Holland many years ago and are still popular and still commonly seen today.
