Barking and Dagenham is in the East of London, or to be more accurate, East London.
We carry out surveys, structural surveys and building surveys on all sorts of buildings all over London and we have carried out lots in the Barking and Dagenham area.

Ways to travel in the Barking area
By Road
As with most areas of London there is a good road system, and famous red buses travel into the area with the duel carriageway on the A406 providing access into the Barking and Dagenham Borough, which also goes past the Royal Docks and Ilford. This provides a road connection from the West to East London all the way to London Docklands or Canary Wharf.
By Rail and Tube
It has the following rail links and tube links; National Rail, Central and District Lines.
This area is also covered by the excellent Google Street View, where you can literally walk along the road.
Interesting facts we know about the Barking and Dagenham area
Interesting fact number one
Dagenham, it can be argued, is a former settlement of Anglo Saxons , this is why the Barking Abbey was built in 666AD and still survives today for special events for Children and the community!
Interesting fact number two
Since the 1990's football is ever so important to the area. Dagenham and Redbridge football clubs merged (it is rumoured that our surveyors have cups of tea in the area and they have met some football fans, who are very passionate about football).

We have heard that Barking and Dagenham is one of the noisiest London areas, we don't know who started that rumour, maybe people who live near the football ground! It contains a range of housing estates that were built during the post war period.
This is one of the main East End Boroughs; you are likely to find individuals with very good sense of old East End Humour in the area!

Ford Dagenham motors, a very successful manufacturer, started life here!
Interesting fact number five
It had many small shops and businesses which opened in the early 1900's and with it a small community sense developed with butchers fishmongers and small merchants (very rarely found nowadays).
History
The name Dagenham was first mentioned in the Barking Abbey Charter, dating from 687 AD.
The Dagenham area was originally farmland.
There is evidence of Saxons, as can be see at the Saxon Moot Hall.
During World War II German prisoners of war were housed in the Dagenham area.
Famous people that were born, have lived, or are living in Barking and Dagenham
There are many famous residents and ex-residents of the Dagenham area and the area has a very good following to football.
Dr George Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury was born and raised in the area.
Sixties singing star Sandie Shaw was born and brought up in the Borough.
Some of the members of the street dance group Diversity, winners of the show Britain 's Got Talent are from Dagenham.
Famous buildings we have not surveyed!
There are some interesting Victorian Buildings in the area and our Surveyors are very familiar with hidden defects these old buildings have!!
Valence House, from the 17 th Century is now a Museum and provides some real Local History!
We would add that as with many areas of London it has a mass of Victorian and Georgian houses, which make up the majority of the housing stock in the area. Things to do in the Borough of Barking and Dagenham
Valence House Museum and Art Gallery is well worth a visit.
If you are a football fan then why not visit the nearby team of Dagenham and Redbridge.
There are numerous parks and playing fields, such as King George V Memorial Field, Valence and Parsloes. There is also a vast array of pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafés.
