The famous Wycombe Chair Arch of 1880 was built outside the Guildhall to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales and to show the towns associations with the furniture industry.

You can visit the High Wycombe museum which tells the history of the area.

There is also a lot of beautiful Chiltern countryside around High Wycombe and a number of walks which enable visitors to explore the local wildlife and see some amazing views.

Hellfire Caves

Bletchley Park - During World War II Bletchley Park was the centre of decoding activities and it is here that the German Enigma codes were broken. Bletchley Park is also home to Colossus, the world's first computer. Visitors can learn how the code breaking was achieved and can see a working replica of Colossus. There are many exhibitions on show such as vehicles of the war period and clothing from the era as well as toys. The museum also houses a large collection of Churchill memorabilia.

Milton Keynes Shopping Centre

Milton Keynes Shopping Centre is situated between the M1 and the A5, and is one of the largest covered shopping centres in Europe with a wide range of shops.

Saxon Church at Wing

The Saxon Church at Wing is worth a visit, it is reputed to be the Oldest one in England probably the British Isles.

Quainton Steam Railway

For the Steam Railway enthusiast there is Quainton Steam Railway originally built to be a major Railway Junction and Station where the Metropolitan Line from London and the Steam Trains from Manchester where to meet. Quainton Station was included in a 1973 TV program about the Metropolitan Line made by Sir John Betjeman.

Wadesdon Manor

Wadesdon Manor is a magnificent Renaissance-style chateau is set within a magnificent garden and was created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 1870s for his house parties. The unique collection of French 18th-century objects includes gold boxes, buttons, cabinets, carpetsand two complete Sèvres services. There are major English portraits, as well as paintings from Guardi to Bakst. The new Drawing Rooms show designs from Paris. The landscaped gardens are famous for their fine views, specimen trees, rococo revival aviary and parterre with striking displays of seasonal bulbs and carpet bedding. The wine cellars contain thousands of bottles of vintage Rothschild wines. Since 1996 Waddesdon has won many awards for its immaculate restoration and its visitor services.

West Wycomb Park

West Wycomb Park is a perfectly preserved rococo landscape garden, created in the mid 18th century by Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the Dilettanti Society and the Hellfire Club. The house is among the most theatrical and Italianate in England, its façades formed as classical temples. The interior has Palmyrene ceilings and decoration, with pictures, furniture and sculpture dating from the time of Sir Francis. 

Jacobean Houses

Just outside Wing at Ascott is a Jacobean half timbered house that has many fine paintings.

There is also a lavishly decorated Jacobean Manor House at Middle Claydon

Castles  

There are the remains of the moat and earthworks of Bolebec Castle in Whitchurch which was originally built in 1147 and pulled down after the civil war.

Windmills

Those of you who like Windmills there are at least three within easy reach of Aylesbury, these being Brill, Pitstone and Quainton Windmills.

The Roald Dahl Museum

A lovely family friendly museum. Half the museum tells the fascinating story of Roald Dahl's life and the other half focuses on the process of creative writing.

Chiltern Open Air Museum

The Chiltern Open Air Museum was founded in 1976, with the aim of rescuing threatened buildings and re-erecting them on our forty-five acre site of natural park, meadow and woodland. The collection consists of more than 30 buildings.
