The Metcalf Fountain is a Grade ll listed drinking fountain in Priory Park that was donated by Charles Thomas Metcalf and was once located in Crouch End Broadway.

Philosophers Garden in Priory Park is a lovely corner of the park to go if you are looking for some peace and quiet. It was named after a club for retired men called ‘The Priory Park Philosophers' who used to engage in casual conversation in the nice weather at the bandstand in the park.

S: St Pauls Fountain

Once in the churchyard of St Pauls Cathedral the fountain was unveiled in Priory Park in 1909.

The fountain in made of Lamorna granite and was once an active fountain but is today used as an impressive planter.

The fountain was presented in celebration of the Mayoralty of Ernest Arthur Ebblewhite Esquire.

Priory Park covers 6.5 hectares and is located in Hornsey in the London Borough of Haringey.

Priory Park attracts more than 25,000 people each year.

 

Priory Parks History

Priory Park is named after a 19th century mansion and estate which once covered this area.

Farmland was purchased by Hornsey Local Board in 1891 largely due to local politician Henry Reader Williams who recognized that people needed open space.

Priory Park was laid out in two phases. The east part of the park was completed in 1899 and in 1926 land to the west was purchased and more was added to the park.
