Telegraph Hill Parks History

The Telegraph Hill Parks opened in 1895.

The Telegraph Hill Parks were named after the Semaphore telegraph. During Britain's war with France a quicker form of communication was needed than by using horseback so the Semaphore Telegraph system was created. This involved buildings on prominent hills passing messages along a chain by using a code system.

The Albany is a performing arts centre in Deptford with a capacity for 300 people to be seated and 500 for standing events.

 

The London Theatre

The London Theatre in New Cross is a fringe theatre housed in a building that dates back to the 1870's.

As well as showing regular productions the London Theatre is also a comedy training centre for people hoping to break into the stand-up world.

The London Theatre is also used for castings for external films and theatre plays.
