Is there Asbestos in your home?
If you are buying a property and are worried about Asbestos or any other property issues such as subsidence or underpinning an Independent Building Surveyor can help you.
As a Building Surveyor if you mention Asbestos, everyone runs! There are only a few words in Surveying that tend to panic people or make them walk away from buying a house or a commercial property. These are subsidence, heave (which is the opposite of subsidence) and interestingly people are also concerned by the term underpinning, which is putting foundations under a property.
The question is, with an older property, not whether it does have Asbestos or not but if the asbestos is dangerous?
How much does it cost to remove Asbestos? This really is the million dollar question. From as far as we can see and from obtaining quotes for removing Asbestos over the years it can vary considerably and seems to have no consistency.
The most obvious place to find Asbestos today is not in the house at all
Asbestos as a way of negotiating down a price
I had a survey and it said there is Asbestos in the house. What would you do?
My Surveyor will not talk to me about the problem or does not return my calls
Caveat Emptor - Why should you have a Building Survey?

What do the ovals or circles in our building surveys mean?Within our reports we utilise a system of ovals and circles to highlight problem areas or characteristics within a property to better explain the issues. If this does not explain the issue completely then we can also use one of our sketches that have been commissioned exclusively for us for use in the reports.
